The course & your visit
Balaklava: the best-kept secret in South Australia
Balaklava Golf Club sits 3 kilometres east of town on Golf Course Road — the club places itself just over 100 kilometres north of Adelaide — a fully watered 18-hole, 5,987-metre championship course among undulating sand hills, open all year round. The club has been part of the community since 1923, and everything about it is volunteer-run: the fairways and greens are watered from an onsite bore and maintained entirely by members, with hundreds of planted trees now sheltering the birdlife.

Fees, carts and honesty
Visiting golfers pay a daily green fee with carts hired subject to availability — carts must be pre-booked well ahead on 8862 1594 or 0438 286 275, with more than a day’s notice generally needed. Payment runs cash or card through the Vendi machine, with EFTPOS only on competition days when the clubhouse opens; as the club says, the course is run completely by volunteers, so honesty is appreciated.
Membership runs full, winter, summer, junior and social tiers on an April-to-March year, with repayment plans by arrangement. Full members carry reciprocal rights at eleven clubs from Loxton to Waikerie — conditions differ per club — and group bookings are always welcome via Louise on 0438 286 275.
