The course & your visit
Flagstaff Hill: hills golf and a proper community club
Flagstaff Hill Golf Club plays across the southern hills with tree-lined fairways, strategic bunkering and views over the surrounding ranges. It presents itself as a community club first — visitors are explicitly welcome on set days, and the clubhouse runs a full calendar around the golf. The club’s own landmark is the short seventh, highlighted as a 145-metre hole played over water.

The course
The club describes an 18-hole hills layout where the defining features are the tree-lined corridors, placed bunkering and the outlook across the hills. Competition golf runs every day of the week, with tee times held back for casual social rounds alongside it.
The club calls the seventh its iconic hole: 145 metres, played over water. Take it as the round’s landmark; the published course material does not offer a hole-by-hole playing guide for the rest.

Planning a visit
Visitors can book on Mondays, Thursdays, Fridays and Sundays, and bookings are essential — everything runs through the Pro Shop on (08) 8270 2208. Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Saturdays are competition days reserved for reciprocal and Club Advantage visitors, with only a limited early-afternoon window on Wednesdays and Saturdays open to the public and future golfers, conditions applying.
Hire covers motorised carts, clubs and pull buggies, but every player must have their own set of clubs, so organise hire when you book. The carts carry GPS course maps and USB chargers; petrol-driven vehicles are not permitted. Dress is collared shirts with golf shoes or sneakers — no denim or active wear on the course. Members also carry reciprocal rights at affiliated clubs interstate and overseas, subject to each club’s agreement.

Beyond the 18 holes
Non-golfers and families are well served. FlagStix mini golf runs on site, there are golf simulators for indoor play, and the practice offer covers putting and chipping greens plus coaching and clinics. Women’s and junior programmes have their own fixtures, which tells you the club is set up to bring beginners in rather than just serve existing handicappers.

The Club restaurant and clubhouse
The clubhouse restaurant, The Club, serves lunch and dinner with an alfresco area, and tables can be booked online. The events calendar runs well past golf — quiz nights, dinner dances, Melbourne Cup lunches and Christmas functions all feature — and the club takes wedding, private and corporate functions. Come for the round, but the room is clearly built to keep people around afterwards.
