The course & your visit
North Haven: seaside nine on the peninsula
North Haven is a public nine-hole course at Outer Harbor, the only golf course on the LeFevre Peninsula, played in soft sea breezes a short walk from the railway station. Two entities share the site: the North Haven Golf Club, a men’s, women’s and juniors’ social club, and the course itself, run by JAG Golf. The pitch is unpretentious — beginners having a first hit, seniors, improvers — and the course describes itself as rarely busy, which is the point.

Nine holes by the port
Holes one to four loop the perimeter with out-of-bounds left of every tee, while five to nine play the inner ground. The published hole notes name the fourth as the longest and toughest: almost 400 metres from the back tees into a strong south-westerly, the second shot forced to carry all the way to a green guarded by two front bunkers. The eighth is the examination among the short holes, a 205-metre par three from the blues to a narrow green behind two deep bunkers.
The rest offers variety without menace. The only par five, the sixth, is a long dogleg turning right past trees to a narrow bunker-less green. The first tees off beside the pro shop and doglegs right toward a large elevated green near Outer Harbor station, and the fifth is the shortest and easiest hole — though the notes warn a strong northerly can still make it interesting.

The JAG pro shop and clubhouse
JAG Golf is Christine Burton and her husband Graham Blum: she is the business manager and course professional — a PGA professional and former player on the Ladies’ Australian and European tours, teaching all standards for twenty years — and he keeps the course as manager and greenkeeper. The shop stocks new and used clubs with fitting, clothing and accessories, plus repairs and fast regripping, and runs clinics and lessons for every level.
The clubhouse and pro shop are fully licensed and serve snacks, meals and beverages daily, so the nineteenth works as well as the first nine. That family-operation feel — one couple running the golf, the ground and the teaching — is the venue’s distinguishing character.

The social club
The golf club sitting atop the course is explicitly a social operation for all ages and abilities, with a stated focus on ladies’ and junior golf — it is an R&A Women in Golf Charter signatory, and juniors are financially supported to keep family costs down. Membership brings a GolfLink number and entry to formal competitions at North Haven and beyond, plus annual green-fee rates from JAG. As of March 2025 the club counted 193 members, including 37 women and 24 juniors.
