The course & your visit
Links Lady Bay: St Andrews style on the Fleurieu
Links Lady Bay sits at 73 St Andrews Boulevard, Normanville, a golf resort designed by Jack Newton with Graeme Grant and John Spencer under founder Mike Hill. The resort calls it a true St Andrews-style sand-based course with bent greens — Santa Ana couch on the fairways — and claims number-one resort and public-access rankings in South Australia with a top-70 national place. Birds and kangaroos share the dunes; the rest is a full resort of spa suites, dining, conferences and weddings.

Eighteen holes, narrated
The venue publishes a hole-by-hole guide — dated 2017 but still the playing companion — and its themes are dunes, wind and exacting greens. The opener doglegs to a hollow green tilted hard right to left; the dogleg eleventh rewards carrying the left dunes with a Gulf backdrop; the twelfth is named the longest and hardest par four, driven through a dune chute; and the thirteenth shares a large double green with the sixteenth.
The signature is the seventeenth, which the resort places among Australia’s best holes: a links par three back in view of the coast where a westerly can demand a full drive and deep unseen bunkers punish anything offline. The eighteenth is a par-five finisher with a hidden centre-fairway bunker the guide warns first-timers about, and a run-up plateau for those going home in two.

Pro shop, lessons and corporate days
The pro shop sits on the hotel ground floor with cart and club hire, clothing and equipment, a driving range, chipping green with bunker, putting green and change rooms. Lessons and clinics come from two PGA professionals — David Galloway for tuition, fitting and rules, and Sarah Douglass Norris, a former Ladies European Tour player — bookable on (08) 8558 0650. Corporate golf runs from client entertainment days to seminar-and-round combinations with event staff and pro clinics.
Membership is sold on year-round value at what the resort calls the state’s number-one public-access course, and the venue hosts the State Mid-Amateur and Senior Amateur championships.

Staying and dining
Spa suites, a day spa, gym and packages make the stay-and-play case, with the Leafy Sea Dragon waters and McLaren Vale — under thirty minutes by the resort’s figure — as the off-course draw. The restaurant serves lunch daily and dinner nightly with later Friday and Saturday sittings, and conferences and weddings for 10 to 200 use the function rooms. Accommodation bookings run through (08) 8558 0600.
