Yankalilla: sand greens and September Saturdays
Yankalilla Golf Club plays an 18-hole sand-green layout at the Memorial Park, a track the club calls challenging for the average golfer. The course is playable all year round, though competition golf rests over summer. Midweek visitors pay at the honesty box at the clubhouse and play; on Saturdays the club invites visitors into the afternoon competition instead. The September calendar is the social peak: a Men’s Open Day for GA handicappers drawing Southern Districts, Kangaroo Island and Yorke Peninsula golfers, a Pink Day fundraiser for the Cancer Council on the third Friday, and a Mates Day social over the October long weekend where members bring friends to sell the club’s benefits.
